A coalition of individuals across the state has convened to work toward ending discrimination based on gender identity and expression. Tell Your Story Transgender Individuals Story Collection Project Fair Wisconsin is working toward rights for all members of our community. Unfortunately, our laws are inadequate to address the discrimination experienced by transgender and gender-nonconforming individuals. In fact, transgender individuals face some of the highest levels of discrimination and violence in our LGBT community. This discrimination is often severe and sometimes even violent. Fair Wisconsin has started working with activists all over the state to address these serious and troubling concerns. One of our first activities will be to highlight the stories of transgender individuals. If you are comfortable sharing a story of discrimination or other daily struggles you experienced because you are transgender or gender non-conforming, please contact Fair Wisconsin by email or call us 608 441-0143, Ext. 316 for more information. We are interested in hearing your story even if you wish to share it anonymously. Coming Out? The National Center for Transgender Equality's Coming Out Guide The NCTE in conjunction with the Human Rights Campaign has put together an excellent guide for transgender individuals who may be unsure of or are in the process of coming out with themselves, their friends, and their families.
